tunnel active
This site's videos live on my own server at home. Not rented space on AWS or some other faceless cloud! Cloudflare Tunnel punches a secure hole through my router so you can reach it without exposing anything underneath. The internet thinks it's talking to Cloudflare. It is. My NAS just happens to be pulling all the strings behind the scenes.
cdn cloudflare
Cloudflare's Content Delivery Network means your request gets answered by a server physically close to you — not routed halfway around the world to my apartment. Fast for you. Cheap for me. Win-win.
stream hls/adaptive
Rather than uploading everything to YouTube or Vimeo and handing over control, analytics, and a monthly fee. I built my own streaming setup instead. HLS breaks video into small chunks that adapt to your connection speed in real time. Slow wifi? Smaller chunks. Fast wifi? Full quality. Yeah, take that YouTube and Vimeo! This kind of cost-efficiency is something I bring to everything I produce ;)
latency —
The time it takes for a signal to leave your device, reach the nearest Cloudflare server, and come back. Think of it as the internet's version of reaction time. Under 80ms is fast. Under 30ms means Cloudflare's edge network is basically your neighbor.
loc —
Your location, not mine. Cloudflare detects roughly where you're connecting from so it can route you to the nearest edge server. No street address, just enough to know which part of the world to serve you from fastest.
proto —
HTTPS/2 is a newer, faster version of the protocol that powers the web. Unlike its predecessor it can handle multiple requests simultaneously instead of one at a time. Less waiting. More loading.
time —
Your local time. Nothing fancy, just a clock. Though if you're watching this at 3am, no judgment.
